Welcome to the

Wairarapa Youth Orchestra!

The Wairarapa Youth Orchestra (WYO) is a community-based orchestra for young musicians aged 7 to 18 in the Wairarapa region. We aim to provide a fun and supportive environment for our members to learn, play, and perform orchestral music.

What we do 🎵

The Wairarapa Youth Orchestra is a non-auditioning orchestra that is open to all tamariki and rangitahi in the Wairarapa who play an orchestral instrument and have some experience. There is no fee to join the orchestra.

We rehearse every Monday afternoon at the Kuranui College Auditorium, Greytown where we prepare a variety of musical pieces for our concerts and fundraising events.

Scholarships 🎵

WYO also offers scholarships to help students learn  to play orchestral instruments and enable them to join the orchestra once they have mastered the basics and gained cofidence with their instrument.  All scholarships include weekly lessons and loan of an instrument.
